Hello again thanks for a detailed advice, i'm now in finalizing stage with my list.. last question though, from your experience is it a good thing to buy on last quarter of the year? especially dec is coming up, and im just wondering if the prices goes down because new products might come? im not in a hurry to buy and can wait till jan next year, just want to make sure cause it really sucks if you bought it now then a month later there's a big drop in prices...right?

What power supply are you going with?

And are you sure you'll stick to Intel? AMD would outperform intel in multitasking winksmiley02.gif

Guys, an 8350 will not outperform an Intel 3930-K in multi-tasking. The 3930-K has 6 cores with multi-threading. That means 12 threads of processing versus 8 with an 8350.
Bang for the buck, an 8350 is great, I just bought one!
But for what asl01 plans on using his computer for, a 3930-K is not a bad way to go (if he can afford it).

As far as the rest, I think you have the right idea.

Also, RAM speed isn't that important--it's more the amount that you have.

Are you doing 3D rendering? In that case it's worth even going 32GB. For gaming you only need 8-16GB, but you benefit from having more RAM when doing rendering and things like that.

I would second waiting to get a GPU, a 550ti is fine for the games you like currently. If you're doing more productivity/rendering/CAD stuff, it might be worth looking into getting a workstation cad like a quadro / firepro.

As far as specific parts, I'll try to give some suggestions when I get home from work.

Good luck! thumb.gif
