Its tough saying what it could be. If your temps are safe theres no reason to worry about adjusting anything its pretty hard to cause damage. Id try making sure coolnquiet is off aswell as turbo core. Then set llc to high and see how it responds. Generally its a turbocore problem. If you have apm make sure thats disabled aswell

Yes, i cant really stress it in gaming(reason to OC) because my current Gpu is bottlenecking this setup.
But it's so annoying tho.
The LLC is very different it just gives percentages and its around 50% stock.
I dont know if i should go a little lower or higher since im very confused about posts saying that its the opposite way now.

higher llc should help. try 75% see what happens. Its not going to explode if you change it tongue.gif.

drops down to exactly the mhz same as auto (3,4**) at 75%,
lets try down ?
I get significantly less Vcore when going up to 75%

yeah usually it lowers your stock vcore but increases vcore during load. you can try decreasing tho you never know tongue.gif.

at 20% LLC now but things doesnt really go stabil, same as 75% ..
Only thing changing is the Vcore.. i noticed im at 1,368 running 20% and 1.035 at 70% hmmmm..

Edit: back to 70% and alltho it goes back in clockspeed etc. it seems it keeps the 3.8 longer before it goes back down, should i crank the hell out of that LLC thumb.gif and turn it to 100 and test?

strange thing is running at 3.8 and falling back down to 3.4 windows keeps saying @ 3.6 i guess he calculates the average of those 2 now rolleyes.gif

Edit2: I guess i was wrong and wanted to believe it. LLC @ 100% now but i cant tell the difference from 0%.
Something if overriding my settings devil.gif

Edit 3: Seems i cant disable APM, thru AMD overdrive the AMP is also greyed out so ^*@ me.
Im running prime95 for the night on 4.2ghz wich i already did for 3 hours yesterday.
Only thing i wonder is considering it slows down during full load, the results will be correct if i get no errors.
Since its not taking full load.
Well wish me luck or i'll be replying from my phone when i wake up lets cross my fingers.

Good night smile.gif

Edit4:
Please shoot me gunner2.gif xD 05.00AM , thinking and thinking and suddenly PING.
Did another psu check ( http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine ) .
And my eyes drew attention to cpu utilization 90% recommended.
i came close to 290 recommended watts.. i have a 300 watt psu.
BUT since im stressing the hell out of it i put it this time om 100% load = 330watt aprox.
This is good hope for the future not ?
Further testing about 2 weeks, with 650watt psu + r9 270x and some room for OC. wink.gif
PS im no expert here (obviously) so can some 1 confirm that this is possible due to the psu ,
then i can have a relaxing 2 weeks waiting time poke.gif

I dont think a psu would cause that but im crossing my fingers for you. Hopefully you get it working. Im sure someone at one of the many asus mobo clubs could help u out. Think theres a m5a99x club might know what your going through.

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and to overclocking. I have read the post at the beginning of this thread and wanted to ask some questions. First I'll post screenshots of what I have done in bios:

I'm trying to get a baseline before I start to overclock and I wanted to make sure I had my setting correct. If not, please tell me which I should change in the above screenshots.

I ran IBT at very high for 20mins or 10 runs and got a successful report from the program. OCCT gave me these CPU Vcore readings, min 1.39v max 1.44v
HWinfo gave me these readings:
Total CPU Usage 99.4%
N.B temp 46c
CPU temp 42c
and PMBus VR, VR T1 & VR T2 101c!

I did not want to go on because of the high temp on what I'm guessing is the v. regs. I'm going to get two fans to put on the side of my case to get those temps down.

So, with those temps and options selected does it look ok for me to start to adjust the CPU Clock? What would I need to change if anything to start? This is after I get those two new fans.

Also, I don't know where the cpu voltage offset is since my bios looks different than the one at the beginning of the theread. I have the LLC set to Low to start with and because the other options are confusing. The options are in this order: Auto, Normal, Extreme, Medium, Low and Standard. I would guess that Low is at the bottom and Extreme is at the top, but how would you rank Normal, Medium and Standard. The manual is of no help here.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

-Mike

Update:

I installed two fans to blow on the mobo and the PMBus VR temps are down to 70c under load, IBT, and 59c while playing games.

Your settings look good mostly. You adjust vcore load line calibration (llc) to change how much the vcore droops during load. So you may want that increased as you will likely see more vdroop at higher clocks. Otherwise you may also want to disable apm as this can cause issues with oc.. c6 state maybe too i think its related to standby issues.
