I don't think DRM is going anywhere... the 90s are over for better or worse

To play BF4 multiplayer, you have to log into centralized servers.....

Honestly, I just need support for my stupid iPod 120GB and a bit better WINE work or dev porting of some of my steam games and I'd purge Windows once and for all. As of right now...I haven't booted into the partition since January when I finished Deus Ex. I'd love to have the 20+GB that Windows takes alone for something more useful. Hell, Handbrake and XBMC now work better in Linux now than ever.
That is not possible when company i work for has me working in 2013. I also want native support, i am not of fan of wine and such programs to make workarounds.

Of course there are also DirectX to OpenGL wrappers but you do take a performance hit. Valve is very fond of this.

I do think that EA has had their sights on something outside of Windows for a while. Origin in written in QT, which is a library designed to be easily ported across platforms. It was a very good move by EA to use QT (GTK or something would have been great too), making it much easier to port things cross-platform. I hope that some day AMD shifts CCC from .net to QT or GTK so the two can be unified across platforms.

I really, really hope this starts a snowball effect of devs moving away from Windows. I can't wait to ditch this OS for Linux.

This, this all day for me! Can't WAIT to get rid of windows & switch to linux.

Why? Dual boot now. Once you get used to KDE you will think Windows desktop blows for usability and how much you can tweak it. Not to mention it's crazy efficient. It runs with all the 3d eye candy on on my old Mobility x1600 laptop.

It has a lot of useful features like OSX has (expose type things, lots of eye candy) except you can tweak it however you like. You could do everything from set up your own custom interface, to copy OSX, to copy Aero. It's glorious. I have widgets on my second monitor that tell me all my temps, CPU usage, and ram usage. All native in the system, no starting up third party programs or messing around with a bunch of bloat. Download plasmoid, install, done with native support.

I only go to Windows to play LoL, I play TF2 and stuff in Linux, and the more games that come out on it that I play the less I'm going to use Windows.
Dual booting is such a hassle.

I used to Dual boot my windows with arch, and I had to try to use linux simply because linux didn't give me anything that windows didn't. If I wanted to play a game, I'd have to jump into windows. Its annoying to have to switch all the time, especially since I don't play on playing games, it just sorta happens like a friend messages me saying hey lets play. So now I gotta restart my computer, go back into windows, play, then when im done, restart again, go back into linux.

Just isn't worth it.
