Some games 290x does really good and some games really low to 780 levels. Drivers probably need to mature more.

Valid point as we know the classified 780 over-volts very well. I'm also not holding my breath on this price point as I have to see it after its in my cart to believe it in all honesty.

Based on what exactly?

That's just a news story about the age old korean ES benches we had (the card that actually had a special bios for the max boost clocks and all that). It even shows the old specs.
