Core 2 mobo. which one?

Thread Starter
Newegg has 400 billion motherboards. I want to add a Core 2 Duo to my list of stuff I need. I tried reading this http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...ard-right.html

But it is too complicated for me.
Which core 2 duo here http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/Su...e-Motherboards
is a Good one on these points: Price, Compadability, Overclocking, Enough Slots for memory.

Or maybe AMD is coming out with something better?

Well let's say the Intel Duo. What type of RAM would I use? the DDR or the DDR2 or what?

Thanks!!

Let's go with Intel

well you most defenelty want socket LGA 775

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131045
The Asus P5B Deluxe is a nice board. There are two version , 1 with onboard Wi-Fi , and one without it. The on board Wi-Fi is a waste because it has horrible connection speeds and what not. But try that. Its good for overclocking as well.

As for the RAM - Stick with DDR2 , which is Dual Channel - much better and what all the newer computers will be using. Incase you wanna add some more later. Start with 1 G and add onto that if you need it.

Would my ATI Radeon X1800XT card work ok with that motherboard?

It's not time for me to upgrade just yet, I only bought my current system in September. I'll get one of the Intel E6700 CPU's when the price drops a bit...it will drop, won't it?

I have the P5B Deluxe on sale right now for $160 shipped. it's the WiFi version, which a lot of people say OCs better then the regular deluxe version, but idk. I OCed my E6300 to 3.6Ghz on it, so i know it OCs really well.
