Someone was asking about copper.

A 6 month old system has dropped 5 degrees just adding a cup of vinegar to my water. There is a kill coil in there but it still tarnished. Its still in there, I want to see if it will clean up my Targon tube too. wink.gif

Did you add the vinegar "live"?

Yes I did. The temperature has stayed down and the water looks like I got some of my blue back.

That's dangerous, see this thread. Vinegar is turning your water acid. Your temps might be down because there was gunk or algae in your block, perhaps, but it's not like vinegar is better conducting heat than water, it's the other way around.

Exactly.... Vinegar is not more thermally conductive or have higher specific heat than water.

If vinegar is dropping your system temps by 5C, there's something else wrong with your loop.
Once again...

I'm blaming the raw copper it does tarnish.
I`m just cleaning it. is there a permanent fix?

Copper tarnish would not account for a 6C difference though.

Exactly. Copper tarnishing is just a surface appearance thing, the copper doesn't actually magically get eaten away

Well unless the scrapyard man comes and steal it in the dead of the night wink.gif
