ntune is junk for overclocking you will not even get close to your max overclock and it will become unstable. trust me. i have my cards at 150mhz overclock on the core alone. so i know what im talking about. i can only hit 750mhz on the core on ntune while im at 805 on rivatuner

Surely all they all do is set a number? The thing stopping me from going much higher (I've benched at 725MHz but wouldn't want to run that normally) is temperature again, the stock cooler used to keep it ok up to 685MHz, the Accelero up to 700MHz, maybe a few MHz higher but it's not really worth quibbling over that.

If you're talking about the artifact scanning of ATiTool, yeah, I use that, but I don't use it for overclocking because I like to avoid tools you have to install, I prefer setting clock speeds in the BIOS and not needing any other software running to set it every time.

We're also talking an 8800 Ultra vs a GTS here.

i have a better core then your ultra does so it would affect me more. and rivatuner is way different then atitool. ask any real overclocker whats better. ntune or rivatuner. and no it dosent just change numbers your going into your GPUS core and messing with settings and a program that already runs like crap will work like crap. ntune is a heavy program while rivatuner is light and isnt as buggy. plus you can change your shaders in rivatuner by them self insead of just core and memory as ntune has.

Better core is debatable.

Have you actually tried ntune 6? It's still in beta, granted, but it allows you to change the shader clocks too. I like all this about "real overclockers", what makes someone a "real overclocker"? Someone who's overclocked something? I think it's just a childish insult, myself.

I'm going to take my leave, this is way off-topic.

you are a noob. ask anyone on here. what is better they will all say rivatuner. and yes i have the latest version of ntune cause its how i manage my sli settings. the G92 core is better then the G80 core. the ultra has better memory and wider bandwidth thats all.

killa, you need to bak off mate, are 'real overclockers' in some kind of club i dont know about...i thought the whole purpose of this site was to help people to o/c the components in their set-ups; reeeally mate... if someone is not as knowledgeable as you about something, WHATEVER it is, surley it would be better to inform than to try and mock....

ntune is terrible. It gave me blue screens all over the place after i did that "find optimal clocks" or whatever.

I reformatted, and everything is installed just the way it was before, except for ntune, and i haven't had one blue screen that i didn't know the cause of.
