how to OC 2500+???

Okay, so I have no idea how to do it... My buddy set me up several years ago with an AMD Barton 2500+ on an Epox RDA8+ Motherboard. He had it slightly overclocked and then my power supply failed and I had to reset everything... Can someone point me in the right direction for over clocking this setup? I've also got 2 gigs of Corsair RAM. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Do you remember the frequency it was overclocked too ? What i like to do with bartons 2500+ is to bump the FSB to 200 straight off, maybe setting the vCore to 1.675 if not then 1.7v. This is a slight 400mhz overclock but the performance boost is nice and you can see the difference and more importantly i've never seen this setting fail. To me a 2500+ is not a 1.83ghz CPU but rather a 2.2ghz

I don't know your level of knowledge, if what i'm saying sounds like arabic then just press DEL when your computer boot and look at the options, you should see what i'm talking about.

Also, please fill in your complete System Specs in your User CP that'll help us to help you better. (cooling, ram brand/model, psu etc..)

First off, try to reduce the multiplyer by 1 to see if it changes the speed, if it does show a lower speed at the BOOT screen your in like flinn with an unlocked Barton, some are some arent.

Regardless, what may be at issue is the FHS and cooling the CPU when you up the voltage. Keep the full load temp below 55c.

Shack got you started with some good info there
Now it's time to work it.

thanks! I had someone else do it for me, so I am not sure.... it was running at 2.2ghz before, so I think you are on to something... I need some step by step, all of this is chinese to me. I know how to get to the settings and all that and know my way around, just dont know d about overclocking or how to change the front side buss, v core voltage and all that... sorry, i am retarted. anyway, the ram is pc 3200 corsair, would have to pull it to get the model.... its good stuff i know. i think my powersupply is suspect and will be replacing that as well as the graphics card. if you know where to go for step by step instructions, i would be forever grateful!... cooling is not an issue,,, got round ide cables and thermal take fans out the wazoo... in fact the darn thing sounds like it will hover when they are all turned up... i have never had a cooling problem,,, just my wife complaining about the noise!
