My Heaven Benchmark Score - Does This Seem Right for My Specs?

Posted this in another area but reposting it here since it seems more appropriate in the benchmarking forum...

Hey all,

So I just completed my new build yesterday and wanted to see what my rig can do. I ran the Heaven benchmark at 1080p, Ultra quality, 8xAA and Extreme tesselation. The program ran off of my HDD rather than my SSD. Here's what I came out with:

I haven't overclocked my CPU yet, I plan to do it in the future up to 4.0-4.2 Ghz. Overall, I was very satisfied until I saw one of my friends with similar specs show me his benchmark:

By all accounts, my 780 is better than his. I have the EVGA SC ACX and he has the MSI Afterburner. I'm not sure where the discrepancy is coming from, but I'd like to find out if I'm bottlenecking something or not getting the performance that I should be.

Thanks in advance!

looks ok to me, your friend as an i7 though.
my score is 1275 with a GTX 680 with the same settings.
try running your gpu fan on max as the gpu will downclock
as temps go up if it is set on auto fan

My 780 only went up to 70* C during the benchmark, so I think I was okay on that front. Maybe the extra threading on the i7 really makes that big of a difference with the benchmark.

not sure of the 780 but my 680 starts to throttles down at 70c but only about 5mhz on the core clock,
so I set my fan on my gpu to keep it at 68c under load so I won't lose any performance.
and I think it is the i7 that makes a little difference as I have a 6 core i7 and I get a better score than
my friends system that has the same exact setup as mine except he has a 4 core i5.
