yup, understand those parts.

but is it bad to buy a higher wattage when i dont need it? (only asking cuz sales and such make the price the same. like the 550w Capstone is $80 and the 650w seasonic G series is $80) (not sure about now but it was due to sales, but im giiving this one out as an example)

like in this case, even though 650w is overkill for my system, since the price is the same, is it still worth buying the higher wattage?

even thought it wont be at peak performance (i hear PSU work best under 40-60% load). will it damage my system in the long run?

or even thought the price is the same for a higher wattage, should i just go for the more efficient one?

Having a little extra "headroom" is never a bad thing - so long as you don't have wayy too much extra wattage - PSU's tend to run most efficient between 50-75% load, if I'm not mistaken so that's a good thing on the electric bill front. Having extra wattage won't harm your system in any way, if that's what you're asking...

If you plan on adding another video card later then sure, 650w is fine. Other then that the 450w is plenty for your current proposed system. Too many watts isn't necessarily bad just not good for your power bill.

The way these prices are set up is just weird. like for example on the rosewill capstone PSU

the 550w modular is $90 right now. well, so is the 650w non modular. but guess what? even the modular version of the 650w is $90.

with the 750w nonmodular being only $10 more.

with the way it is, even though a 550w is perfect for my build, i would just rather go with the 650w seeing as the prices are the same.
