My motherboard is doing 2 continuous short beeps. What's going on? Is this bad? Also, SM bus driver missing (?)

Thread Starter
So I have this issue with my system, and I don't know the cause.

I upgraded the BIOS of my motherboard to the latest (My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H rev 1,0) and also decided to do a clean install.

Everything is in stock right now. No overclock. Yet, it keeps doing the two loud and short continuous beeps.

They happen every 15 minutes, and sometimes, every 2 or 3 hours.

The manuals don't mention anything about such beeps and I'm not sure if they could be caused by the GPU, which I never overclock, BTW.

I'm proceeding to do a clean install of Windows 7 x64 SP1. How can I find the source of the problem? What could be causing it?

It's worth mentioning that the system, overall, before doing a clean install was working fine. Sometimes, however, the OS was making the noise when you plug and unplug a USB drive. Windows was mentioning something about SM Bus Driver missing or something...

A few days later both the beeps and the SM bus problem coexisted.

Now that I just installed the OS again, the double beep persists.

Check device manager for any missing drivers.

I would suggest going to Gigabytes website and downloading all their newest chipset drivers.
