Need help comparing GPU options.

Thread Starter
I am at the moment upgrading my motherboard to an Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0 and picking up a AOI cooler for my Phenom 2 x4 CPU. At the end of the month I will have another 200-240 to invest in a GPU upgrade and I am not sure which way to go. My options as I see them are:

1 XFX 7950 Core Edition 230$ I have never experienced XFX products before so no clue on quality. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150590

1 Asus HD7870 200$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121649

1 Asus R9 270X 210$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121802

1 MSI R9 270X 200$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127761

or

2 Asus HD7770's 130$ each http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121642

Comparing cards within the same series is simple enough but trying to figure out best bang for my buck between different generations is tricky, especially as I have only used Nvidia cards in the past. Any input would be appreciated. Also I know using the old quad core 9.55 CPU may bottleneck me a bit but I plan on dropping an FX8350 in a few months down the line.

HD 7950 is the best option. go with sapphire hd 7950. unlocked voltage and good cooler. much better than xfx.

R9 270X is a slightly higher clocked HD 7870. HD 7950 is 30 - 35% faster than HD 7870 / R9 270X at same clocks

I would go with Raghu for HD 7950's but these ones

1. Sapphire HD 7950
2. MSI TF3 HD 7950

The sapphire one i have heard has an excellent cooler whereas the TF3 uses the reference HD 7970 PCB. ( earlier revisions did but not sure about this one so someone could correct me)

Go 7950! I think most people would agree that the price/performance of the 7950's are insanely good. With a good overclock you can push a 7950 up to and even beyond a stock 7970GHz (R9-280x)

The MSI 7950's that were released on the 7970 ref PCB have all but dried up as far as I can tell. I picked one up a year ago and haven't been able to find another since
