While that may be true, when they said we'd be extremely happy they were specifically talking about price.

you asked why would anyone be extremely happy with the price difference. i'll be upset to pay more for a card where driver support is not any better.

After all that, this would be the ultimate marketing move: the card demoed at Montreal was the R9 290. Not likely at all, but just imagine it were true...

I doubt that would happen but I believe that all the benchmarks released to date were in "quiet-mode". I discussed this with the guys at the event in Montreal but I can't remember what mode the card was in. Anyone else who was there remember?

Found some new benches for "non-quiet" (I think this is what the AMD guys referred to as "UBER-mode"): http://videocardz.com/46929/official-amd-radeon-r9-290x-2160p-performance-17-games.

At first glace the average FPS seems to be ~3 FPS higher than what was demoed in Montreal. 23.8% faster on average than a GTX 780 at 4K, holy crap.

Edit: Confirmed in article, all benches to date were done in quiet-mode rather than UBER-mode. I'm so excited smile.gif

It was stated on anouther forum the delay for the 290x is due to drivers, i assume that these results are going to change with better drivers.

fighting about the choice to build your own computer or have one prebuilt is fine, but trying to demean someone and mock them over their income? come on man, not everyone is lucky to land a good job, hell not everyone is lucky to even land a job these days. Keep that attitude off OCN, you dont know peoples life story so why try to make fun of them about it?

Just to clarify I wasn't trying to come off as if I'm against prebuilts. My point was against his mocking others for their builds they built as if it's some sort of negative aspect to do it yourself.
