I don't know what to make of this fascination with 4k. Yes, it is obviously the future resolution that will become the standard in maybe 6 or 7 years? We are still stuck on 1080p and slowly moving up to 1440p
. Why not focus on those resolutions?
The extra bandwidth the 290x and 290 will bring will certainly help against the 780 or the Titan, but comparing them at 4k at this stage seems pointless to me.
4k is not realistically viable at this time. 4k monitors are easily 3 grand and up at this stage and the power needed to run 4k stacks up. Not to mention the fact that 4k monitors are limited to 30hz or 60hz depending.
Show me what your card can go at 1440p or 1600p at this stage. Show me what that extra bandwidth gives and how powerful your card is.
Talk to me about 4k when the monitors are under $1000 and a single gpu can handle 60 fps on 4k with everything maxed.Edited by wstanci3 - 10/17/13 at 6:12am
