I think you mean "except" instead of "expect". tongue.gif

But yeah... that laptop is dumb. Srsly guise. At least for these requirements.

Hello guys. I've got bad and good news.

The good news is that I got the laptop E6540.

The bad news is that the Radeon 8970M graphics card is basically broken in this laptop !

This seems to affect everything from dockingstations to external monitors (in my case).

This is a bad case of OEM drivers and a new laptop that hasn't gone through the proper testing before being released.

Read for yourself ...

I think I'll have to go with something like one of the ASUS notebooks.

If anyone has a great replacement that is (not) a Dell this time I would be grateful !

... incredible how much work I spent on this laptop for no purpose setting up everything from Windows/Linux dualboot with TrueCrypt to conclude that the graphics card or motherboard is faulty !

I am looking for a solid replacement now, so I can get on with business and customers !!

Models currently looking into:
ThinkPad T540p (just released this week I guess)
ASUS N550JV
Dell Precision M4800 (I'm not giving them another chance apparently! But that QHD display is tempting!)
