Cloud Storage Options

Thread Starter
Dear OCN, I am wondering if you have any ideas. I'm currently using a lot of portable devices like laptops, smartphones to generate code and content -- and what I'm looking for is more interoperability between the devices for sharing media internally and also potentially externally.

My ideal solution would be for my PCs to use a web interface and then on the smartphones to use a app. My goal is to be able to push to the cloud media or files, and then either publish them for use in HTML, or privately share the media with family or for just myself, streaming etc.

I think this would offload my use of several websites that can be un-reliable and focus on a single site for this kind of thing instead of using free services that have dissimilar interfaces, etc. I also am way past the point of encoding/decoding and dealing with codecs, I just need it to work with video, still images, etc.

Do you know of any cloud platforms like this that would work or do work, in general and have a smartphone app or feature-set designed for ease?

Thanks. -- Doug. smile.gif

I would have thought you could do that with either, Google Drive, Microsoft Skydrive or Asus Webstorage?

I use Skydrive myself.

Plex would get it to your devices where you can have the Plex App for your devices. - Using DLNA

What about just using HTML5 on your own Web Server.

+1 I forgot about plex. I use to on my network for streaming media but it also does have a sharing onto the web feature.

I think what I'm looking for is a web-based or phone based IDE / Media or File Manager which I would guess does not even exist.

So, I think my short-term solution or long-term solution is going to be to just use file sharing standard on my server and host it up if possible to any devices capable and if necessary sandbox the dev areas and give the user accounts w/r access as appropriate.

I was looking at the hollywood systems used by the marvel character tony stark and was thinking how to implement a "beam" or distributed IDE system for anything similar to his interfaces. I didn't really find much online about how to deploy DLNA devices, etc and most of it seems marginal. My phone's OS has twonky, blah.

It would be sweet to see holographic interfaces like tony stark has and then use it for stuff or whatever, a digital butler, etc.
