Will an AMD Phenom II x4 970 bottleneck an R9 280x?

Thread Starter
I've been wanting to upgrade from a GTX 460 for a while now and the 280x seems perfect. However I don't know if my current CPU will severely bottleneck the card or not. Would you guys care to enlighten me? Thanks! :thumb.gif

Also, will it fit in an Antec 900?

judge for yourself. here's a video someone claims to have made on that rig. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n2gMMdj0HI

poster claims that he can't record while he's pushing at 60fps, so I suspect it's pretty close. Overclock solves all woes though.

In CPU bound games such as Skyrim, GTA4, Crysis 1, etc. yes. I had a PII x4 at 3ghz before (doubt 4ghz will make THAT much difference) with a 7950 and I now have a i7 and the performance increase is very noticeable. Go for it, but consider a cpu upgrade soon. thumb.gif
