I have my G400 since January 2012. The cable was OK, but eventually started to disconnect a week ago. I switched cable with this cheap Logitech mouse http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/338?osid=14&bit=64. G400 works OK after that. Here are photos of connector from original cable, any cable with the same connector should be fine:

The G400 doesn't have any strain relief where the cable enters the mouse, but the G400s does, probably because so many people complained about the cable cutting out.

Strain relief: wrap some electrical tape around it so it won't crease. wink.gif

If you need be you can change the cable with a cheap Logitech or Microsoft one, thats what I did

You could also sleeve it and put some heatshrink right where the cable comes from the mouse, another thing I did biggrin.gif

Just my 2cents.gif

i like logitech as a company, i used to buy solely logitech mice. Seems like the fact of the matter is optical mice are budget mice for logitech now. G400 and G400s are budget mice with cheap cables and connectors and i rather invest in a mouse from a company that still believes in high performance, high quality optical mice, like Zowie. Even if you have an extra cable ready and know how to replace it, you still have the wireless mouse dilemma where it can stop working at the worse possible time, no way to predict.

I recently bought a logitech g400 and im worried about this cable issue too. Apparently from what ive heard the issue is caused by too much tension at the area where the cable enters the mouse? Some people tape the wire to their desk. Does this work? I dont really understand where im supposed to tape the cable though ...

I wouldn't tape it to my desk, I think that could actually make things worse. I do however place a folded sheet of foam between my desk and the wall behind to keep the cable from pulling down. It gives a good feel while gaming other than putting strain off the cable. The sheet also gives it an upwards angle like a mouse bungee, taping it flat will feel different and probably snag.

The tape I put around the part of cable sticking out in front of the mouse shell, where they meet. This makes the cable stay straight instead of folding at a worrying almost 90° angle. You can use a heatshrink too as Aussiejuggalo suggests.

I've got a question about the G400 as well. I know that there are good and bad serial numbers (or series in that case). Can you tell me which are the good ones? Thanks!

Or the other way around: Someone is offering me a g400 with a PID of lz150hg.

Will this one have angle snapping or no?
