Windows 8.1 took out my mouse and front USB ports

Anyone else having strange issues with 8.1? At first it didn't play nice with dual boot. I assume this is because it wanted to use it's own boot loader which is understandable. Fixed that. Now, my mouse (steelseries sensei) won't even turn on. Then, I tried plugging in a different mouse to the front USB ports. No acknowledgement by Windows that anything was even plugged in. Tried another device in the front ports. Still nothing. The ports directly on the motherboard work, but how would this update screw up this bad? I don't think I've ever seen an OS act this way. Ideas?

But how did it take out my front USB ports? I've never seen a service pack do this much damage.

Installing the SS engine on windows 8.1 a few weeks ago resulted in my computer being unusable. I had to wipe my HDD.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Update your USB controller drivers, happened to me too. After the update the USB 3.0 ports disappeared had to connect the mouse and keyboard to the USB 2.0 and head to the ASUS website and luckily they updated the drivers 2 days before win8.1 release

good luck
