$300 alternative to AMD Kaveri.

Thread Starter
Seeing how AMD keeps delaying Kaveri, I'm getting frustrated. Are there any similarly powerful Intel builds with GPU, they should last at least 8 years and allow me to play games at decent resolution like 720p(native resolution would be 1080p) with almost all the effects. Any helpful suggestions are welcome. Thanks

You talking desktop or laptop?

I was waiting for a Kaveri laptop myself, but heck, broadwell will be out by the time ULV Kaveri laptops comes out, and it looks like overclocking will be locked. It's just ridiculous.

To be frank, a desktop CPU + dGPU is sometimes a better value than an APU anyway, as kaveri won't be faster than a 7790.

If budget is a concern, check craigslist. Alot of people want to dump their rigs fast, and you can get some pretty ridiculous deals. I got my 7950, 4670k and a motherboard for ~$400.

Otherwise, I'd look at a ~7850 level GPU + an FX 4300, Phenom II X4 or an i3

wat all do you need in that budget
i would say a CPU+mobo+RAM would be decent in a 300$ budget but getting a GPU would take a toll on the CPU n the quality of motherboard n quantity of RAM

BTW wat PSU do you have ?? you have written a 450w but which company ???

Hi, you are from India also? PSU is a local one. When I upgrade I'll buy a new one too if necessary.

dont tell me its a VIP build n BTW 300$ meants in Indian Rupees is ~18k n in that much you can get a

a
7750 6k
4gb 1600Mhz RAM 2.5k
fx 6300 7.5k
gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 4.5k

is the min you should get, there is no point in going with a 4300 coz it costs ~7.2k or so

if you can get your hands on old Athlon II X4's it would be great

try the APUs too i m not sure about the prices of APU in India will get back to you soon m at my job right now wink.gif

Hope that helped thumb.gif

*EDIT*
OK a
A10 6800K ~9.5k
A85X decent 4+2Phases VRM cooled motherboard ~6.5k
RAM 4GB(2x2GB) 1886Mhz ~3k
total ~19k

or go with a
a10 5800k ~8.5k
A75 i guess Gigabyte it was i dont remember the name ~4.5k
4gb (2x2GB) 1866Mhz ~3k
serach for a second hand 6670 for ~ 2.5k 3k you will get a new one for like 5.5k

that 6800k APU has the fastest integrated graphics at present, it preform close to a 6670
