need a compatible GPU for my weird intel dp45sg board.

So I bought a 7950 used on ebay to replace my gtx460 because it just can't handle it anymore, and the board is crossfire only. There is no statement that the thing is incompatible, but I plug the thing in, and it won't boot.

I go online, and lo and behold, there are a whole bunch of people with this problem, and no confirmed solutions. There is one "suggestion" that I clear my CMOS and firmware completely with the board totally free of the case, but no confirmation that it even works. Getting firmware onto this thing is a giant pain.

Has anyone out there made a 7950 work on a dp45sg? and if not, what CAN you make work? 7870? 6950/70?

Try these suggestions and see if it works out for you...

I am afraid to say that we as IntelĀ® do not handle a list of compatible video card that can be used with our motherboards.

However, I recommend you doing the following:

1. Take the system outside of the chassis. Make sure you disconnect all other components from the motherboard and take the product out in a non-conducted surface.

2.Clear the CMOS. The correct way is, while having all components disconnected from the motherboard, disconnect the BIOS jumper and remove the battery for about 15-20 minutes.

3. You mentioned that you have the BIOS updated to the latest version. Just in case,, you can try flashing it gain using the file that can be downloaded at the following link:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18636&ProdId=2932&lang=eng&OSVersion=%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09%09%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09&DownloadType=BIOS

4. Tested a different power supply. Based on the card specifications, it is necessary a 500w power supply to use it. Testing a higher power supply will help us to discard any possible power issue.

5. Search for the latest firmware for your graphics card.

If doing these basic troubleshooting steps is still not working in the DP45SG, there might be a compatibility issue between these components.

I highlighted the most important onces. most of the time you don't need to disconnect every component, just clear the CMOS wait for a few minutes and try again.

Yeah, that was the suggestion I was talking about. I was hoping someone had actually done it. The box is kind of a mess in there. I gotta pull off almost everything anyway just to get to the jumper.
