Will a ghz edition card work with non ghz

I have a visiontek 7970 reference card non ghz ed, I'm about to buy a radeon 7970 that was flashed to ghz ed. I'll be using msi afterburner to overclock the cards, will I run into issues having two different bios on the cards in crossfire, with msi afterburner overclocking them. I really don't want to brick my 7970 trying to flash it.

If the first two digits are a seven and a nine, it will crossfire. 7950 and 7990, 7970 GHz and 7950, whatever...

Yes you'll be able to crossfire them but the faster card will run at the speed of the lowest card if i'm not mistaken.

You are correct thumb.gif

Here is the link to the site which says what you have mentioned already: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMDCrossFireFAQ.aspx

There is also a compatibility chart in the middle that may come in handy too: http://sites.amd.com/PublishingImages/Public/Graphic_Illustrations/WebBannerJPEG/AMD_CrossfireX_Chart_1618W.jpg

Since the "new" card was flashed to GHz, you could always just flip the BIOS switch on it to the stock BIOS, and run them both as non GHz cards.
