Bottleneck a 660?

Thread Starter
I'm debating to get a 660 Ti and how much of a bottleneck it will give me...
My current rig is this:

EVGA GTX 550 Ti (1017 MHz GPU clock and 2328 Memory clock.)
i3 3220 3.3GHZ Dual core
6GB RAM
CX430 430w PSU

"bottleneck" is a pretty bad term

Faster GPU will help if you are GPU bound. If you are GPU bound depends on the game, engine and also settings you are using

This.

I'm running an OC'd 7870XT with the same proc, and i'm arguably still GPU bottlenecked on certain titles (Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs). For the money, I would look to a used 660 ti, or if you're not anti-AMD, a 7950. The Tahiti-chipped 7970 Myst is on sale right now, too!

For a machine with these specs, you should be safe by following "the single fastest card you can afford" advice, but avoid the "money is no object" rule, as well. Bang for the buck, I like these guys:

Thanks for the advice, I'm not going AMD because I do alot of editing and so the nvidia option would be better for me.

yeah 660ti or 760 would be best i wouldn't recommend a 660 because they are slower then the 7870xt in performance and cost more smile.gif

also unless the programs you use for editing use cuda then the ati cards are actually faster then the nvidia cards are for editing

I use Sony Vegas Pro 12 to edit(I use cuda to render.) And I like nvidia for there drivers. But if I wasnt rendering editing I would go for a 7870.
