What you can do is paint over it with a matte paint, first sand the frame with a fine grit sandpaper (220, 400) so the paint (and primer if you like) will take. There are videos of ppl doing this.

EDIT: Youll probably need to add some kind protection after so it doesnt rub off - you can get a matte or semi-gloss clear coat/enamel as well, then sand that down with really fine grit sandpaper (600, 1000, 1500)

This is your best bet IMO will cost you 15 bucks.

That was my 1st option! But, there is a problem! I notice that the lighting for the Caps , NUM Lock etc. is under the cover so if I sand the surface over that lighting ,it will be a mess! one other option that I was to make a little square where the lights are and leave that space glossy and the rest of the cover matte! And maybe I will clue some low profile frame around that space to look like factory!
