R9 290X faster than a Titan/ GTX 780?

Thread Starter

after some Google-ing i found this...

There is no confermation about the speed of the cpu, though i think its at base clock

I ran the Fire strike extreme benchmark with my system ( CPU: i7 4770K @ 4.4 | GPU: GTX 780) and my graphics score is 400-ish points higher. But you can only compare gpu's with the same cpu...

my question is: How does te R9 290x compare with the GTX 780 overall at 1080p res? since no one really can afford 4k screens just yet...

To my knowledge they have only released official benchmarks with 4k because with the 512 bit memory the 290x has much less drop off in performance with higher resolutions. I do think it is an impressive card but I speculate that it will end up like AMD's first 8 core CPU, they advertised it and hyped it as the "Intel killer". It was a good CPU but not as amazing as advertised. This is being advertised as the "Titan Killer" and will still be a good card but not amazingly amazing. I speculate it will be on par with the titan and 780 at leased because that is how it usually goes, with Nvidia coming out with the 680 and then the 7970 catching up to it later this will catch up to the 780/titan.
