Is the H80i for 75$ worth it? - Page 2

IMO The H80i only really makes sense when you got space issues, as in can't fit a big air cooler. If space is not issue then I would recommend going with a high end air cooler like an Silver Arrow SB-e, Havik 140 ect.

Air cooler tend to have much better acoustics then AIO's

Actually you got it a little bit wrong. ALCs are usually noisier and cost more than air coolers while performing slightly better. So air coolers are better for the value. A good air cooler will handle a fx-4100 easily at the max voltage that is safe for it so you may or may not reach 5GHz depending on your luck.

Edit: I was referring to CramComplex.

How? The pump isn't that loud and you can use the same quiet high performance fans that an air cooler uses.

Aside from the Kraken AIO's use 120mm fans and this is an disadvantage. Further more AIO's have less surface area than the big air coolers and so to dissipate the heat you need more air flow. To really get any benefit form the liquid heat transfer you need to be dissipating a lot of heat. As an result you only really get your moneys worth form AIO's if you run very high speed fans and as everyone knows fans screaming away at +2500 rpm aren't very nice on the ears.

Im looking at reviews of those coolers, and they don't seem any less quiet then anything else on the market. To get excellent performance they need to run the fan at a higher speed and 2 fans typically make more noise when in a push/pull. If he plans on sticking with his current CPU for the next year or 2 he should just get something like a 212+ Evo, or an h60 for much cheaper.

The rest of your post just comes of as ignorance. it doesn't really seem like you have much experience with AIOs. Atleast the more recent ones.
