Best Mic Performance? Sound Blaster Z or Sound Blaster ZX

I really like what I have read about these two cards, and the particular feature I am looking at here is the Beamforming Mic Performance. Essentially I like how it is able to isolate the sound from the speakers... which is all done on the SoundCore3D chip. But after watching a few reviews, I found out the ZX had the mic built into the ACM, where as the basic Z card has an extra attachment that gets placed on your monitor. Since I have a monitor stand with a large base, I would have to place the ACM to the side of me, but I also have a webcam on my monitor, so I would have to put both the webcam and external mic of the Z card on top of my monitor. Either card has a drawback So I am wondering which has the best in terms of mic pickup quality.

Also, with the ACM, does the knob adjust system volume, or just headphone volume?

Thanks ahead of time!

Anyone have either of these and can attest to the Mic Quality or the functionality of the ACM?

I recently got the ZXR with the hope of using my decent headphones that don't have a mic with the built in mic on the ACM unit.

Trouble is the ACM mic is absolute garbage, no matter which settings I've tried my friends on teamspeak can barely make out what i'm saying.
A few people have reported the same problem with the ZX (http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=699657)

At the moment I have a cheap clip on mic plugged into my motherboards mic socket and the sound is 100% better than from the built in mic on the ACM and also plugging a seperate mic into the ACM which still gives terrible sound quality.

The ACM also just controls headphone volume and not windows volume.

On paper it sounds fantastic. Anyone have any other experiences with this Mic?

I really think that if you're so in love with the ACM, then you should get something external rather than something that plugs into a pci slot.

This thread is probably dead but I've started using the external z mic.

Its pretty fantastic. Once you fins the sweet spot for wedge setting, your golden. With noise isolation on, its dead quiet and doesn't pick up anything but your voice. And I have a pretty noisy basement do to the furnace bring beside me. As long as the mic is point in your mouths direction wherever it is, it works great.
