You're right - it's not Apple's fault
that there is an exploitable system. You're again right that this isn't really about ethics. Thing is, I happen to be a human being with emotions, and also a consumer of goods. It's completely rational to be pissed off at Apple for attempting to destroy the competition so that they can sell whatever they want at whatever prices, to everyone

the customer being spanked by Apple, and being outraged by it. Apple is using the most tenuous "patents" to remove choice from my purchases, and keep charging a premium/charge more in future to sell the products that only they are now allowed to sell.
