HAF X Alignment with GPU Problem

Thread Starter
I built my first PC in July and the back of the case would not align with the gpu to attach it to the case. However, with a large amount of force, I was able to push the back of the case inward and screw it in (and screwing it in was a very tight fit). Everything works fine, aside from a few crashes I think are CPU related, but I am worried that this is bad for the GPU or the slot on the mobo. Is it? Once I released the force on the back of the case, I imagine it would tug on the gpu which could potentially damage the PCB or the slot...or maybe even yank the slot a bit off the mobo. Any advice or info on this situation? Apparently this is a common problem with Cooler Master cases, as I see several threads about it when I google "HAF X won't align with GPU".

However, people never mention if using force will cause any damage. They either say to return the case or to use force like I did, so does anyone have any information about this? I do not want to cause any damage and my OCD exacerbates the problem because I think about it nonstop until I make my setup perfect. THANKS!

Try to loosen motherboard screws and see if it will move a little bit and make it fit nicer. I noticed that on my HAFx too

Thanks I will give that a try when I get home tomorrow. I just hope it hasn't done any physical harm to the gpu or mobo. Cooler Master should fix this problem on their cases.

Also it looks pretty much like this if not screwed in:

Man I feel bad about this, like the back of case just really tugging away at it while its screwed in.

Yeah make sure all the mobo standoffs are in all the way as welland definitely give the mobo a little slack..

A friend told me to not worRy because it is pulling on the bracket and not the actual card so not a big deal...is this possibly true?

Bend the bracket on the GPU in towards the case a little.

My HAF-X and GTX 780 line up the same way, I just pushed in on the case and started the screw.

I also have a HAF-X with a GTX 480 it lined up even worse, on that one I just bent the bracket on the GTX 480 towards the case so it lined up better.
