Cooling SLI - Page 4

i'm a supporter for positive pressure so i'm going to suggest making it an intake. however, MAKE SURE you find some kind of air filter solution for that side panel fan before making it an intake. it'd be better to NOT use that side panel fan at all if you aren't going to put a filter on it. the long term health of your system depends on that air filter. and no. the mesh grill does NOT count as an air filter biggrin.gif it'll block dog/cat hair at best biggrin.gif

demciflex may have a kit for your case, but they aren't cheap. almost better to save up for a better case that already comes with filters. it's unfortunate that CM realized that unfiltered intake is unacceptable for modern builds abit late in the game. they started to put filters in their cases too late and have too many intakes where dust can get in.

I'm an advocate for positive pressure too (c/o ehume, lol)! And yes, I do have a pantyhose intake filter for all my 200mm fans thumb.gif In that way, where would the hot air exhausted by the second GPU come out?

I have a demciflex filter for my PSU bottom intake fan but I can't afford those filters for the front, top, and side fans because they are just too expensive. Yeah, my case only has an intake filter for the front area and nothing else more.

the key to managing a positive pressure case is to know where you want to reduce the airflow resistance. to resolve the heated air problem around your 2nd GPU is simple. remove a few of the expansion slot covers and allow the heated air to escape through those openings. some go as far as removing the pillars between the expansion slot covers with nibblers such as what ehume did here

personally i'm not a big fan of removing the pillars, but I can see the performance benefits that it offers. if you are interested, you may want to visit the nibbler club and read up on their results

PS, i'm not a big fan of removing the pillars on expansion slots, but I do fully recommend removing the fan grill in front of or behind the intake / exhaust fan of the case. not the cosmetic mesh of the front cover, but the grill created from holes stamped out of the actual chassis. kinda like this

so if you have access to a nice dremel tool or a nibbler... have at it biggrin.gif

If you take a look at the picture of my case in my sig, you can see that the rear fan grill and slot pillars of my case are already "nibbled". So I'm guessing I'm all good to go then.
