The weird stuff always happens to me..

Hello everyone, thanks for taking a look..

Here it goes. I had my I5 2500k overclocked to 4.4ghz on a MSI Mpower Z77 and all it wanted was 1.35volt in bios. Now, I work in a computer store and one guy had left over a i7 3770k so I was all happy hoping it would work in my system because the chip was not even 5 months old..

Turns out after a few couple of tests in my rig that the chip is broke (FF post..) and doesn't even work in a brand new mobo..

Now, I had done a lot of stuff in order to try to make it work.. I've flashed my BIOS (succesfully), tried to boot on 1 stick of ram, all that, believe me, **** is broken..

THE BAD LUCK NOW: I really don't know what happened, if I broke my motherboard or if I ****ed up something but ****...

My i5 now fails workers, crashes whatever ON STOCK VOLTAGE AND CLOCK. I've boosted up the voltage, still and now it just looks like a piece of dead pcb...

Here's what I'm thinking, could it be possible that in my manipulations I've ****ed up something? I've noticed a little bent down pin (just a little tad) on the socket that could interfere with another but my cpu boots so I wouldn't believe it would be that.

My CPU cooler is well seated, I've re-seated it like 20 times.. I'm getting 36 degrees on idle with my h100i, although this is really odd, my room temps are about 25.

did I break my bloody board/cpu???? puke.gif

thanks in advance!

check the BIOS and make sure MSI gave you the right one for your board/chipset. can you reflash back to original BIOS?

I've done all of that already.. I suspect a motherboard failure or a cpu failure..

Where I work, I'm bringing home a cheap p8h67 csm and ill try my cpu on it with stock cooler and ill prime it to see what happen..

I guess if I get more worker failures it means the cpu is dead, otherwise if it works it means that my motherboard is dead?

thank you for answering!

Alright, my motherboard is defective..

Fortunately, i ****ed up and my pin makes the board defective.. gonna try to straighten it back and RMA that guy..

sorry to hear it, was hoping it's software related- but usually a bent pin does mean nothing but trouble...
