Something like ASUS' Cooltech cooler with the axial fan that contains a radial component would be nice though.
They could also use a better quality fan with a better acoustic and airflow profile , more noise dampening on the shroud/fan interface ; more heatpipes + better vapor chamber. None of those improvements require a switch to axial fans

The main thing hampering the Tahiti coolers was die area and the die orientation (a lot of coolers only had two heatpipes touching the die)
The die orientation difference is gone now but now the power per square mm is increased.
The axial fans have been used on the HS 7990 and Firepro S10000
