I don't really see a problem here aside from OP only being able to play demanding games on low-med settings.

Most games will make use of what cores they have access to and not a set amount of cores. I don't think hardware can "bottleneck" games per se, since games are designed to run on whatever hardware is available.

The fact the HD 7750 is an entry level current generation discrete GPU does not mean games running on it won't be bottlenecked by a dual core CPU.

Current game engines mostly use more than two threads. The 4 Ghz clockspeed is nice, but don't forget that Richland is based on the Piledriver architecture, which is a refined version of the Bulldozer architecture. It has lower IPC compared to Intel's CPUs, hence the high clockspeed to compensate. Also, this CPU only has 1 MB of L2 cache.

If you have an AMD platform, I'd suggest you try to find a Phenom II X4 955 or 965 C3 revision second hand, that will make a great budget gaming platform.

Obviously dude has Intel platform, so converting to AMD would require him to change mobo as well and I guess he's on tight budget too, if he considers dual core. The most rational solution would be getting a 4-core intel and be done with it, no bottleneck.

Where did you get that he has an Intel platform ? The Intel system listed in his sig is a laptop.

power of logic
What ?

1. You don't know if he already has the HD 7750, and even if he had, that doesn't necessarily mean he already has a motherboard.

2. But let's assume he has a motherboard. The link in the OP is for an AMD Dual Core, where did you get he has an Intel platform again ?

I didn't opened that link and automatically assumed it's Intel

My apologies

No problem.

By the way, the thread is in the AMD CPUs sub-forum, you can see where you are right below the search box at the top of the page.

I am responding to these, while working, I don't really pay attention to details, as I don't want to get caught browsing Internet while working

That Athlon 370K is gonna bottleneck the HD7750 by 20fps even at 4ghz.
jason387 had his Athlon above 4ghz and it still bottlenecked his HD6770.
Granted that 370K has a newer architecture than his Athlon II regor, a dualcore still isnt enough to push an HD7750 at 100% gpu usage.

If you are sticking with FM2 socket, save a bit more and go for the Athlon 740 or 750K quadcore.
Otherwise, go for an AM3+ like an FX4100.
