Restored Win 7, wireless driver not working

Thread Starter
So my laptop got a nasty virus and deemed it necessary to restore Windows, seeing as I only got it a week ago. The restore went fine except the wireless networking driver isn't there. I got it from from the Asus website and moved it over via flash drive, but the laptop isn't accepting them. Pretty much, I have a laptop with factory reset Windows 7, with no drivers and no internet access. Help.

Double check that you are running the correct model numbers of the wireless card with the drivers you are trying to install. If that doesn't work live boot a linux distro like mint or ubuntu to see if they pick up SSIDs around so you know it's not hardware related.

Download SIW portable http://download.cnet.com/SIW-Portable/3000-2094_4-12306386.html run it and go to Hardware - PCI devices and see what kind of wireless card you have. Then just download the right drivers.
