Is my laptop battery dying?

I've had this HP laptop (HP DV7 6000 series) for about 18 months now. Originally I used to get about 6 hours out of the battery with wifi on, gradually it has lost charge and up until last week I was getting 4 hours. Still decent for old and well used battery. It probably has gone full discharge on the average of every 3-4 days and only once did I leave it fully charged for 3 weeks (hard drive went bad, had to wait for new one)

A few days ago that changed suddenly. I got about 30 minutes before I was warned it was low. Initially I thought I forgot to recharge and plugged it in, then shut my laptop down to go to sleep. In the morning it was still charging and stuck at 95%.

I used the laptop and again it lasted about 30 minutes before I got a new warning that something's wrong with the battery so I plugged it back in, went about for the day and when I came back to it 8 hours later, it was stuck at 70%. I started the laptop and entered BIOS then left it alone for forced deep discharge. After it died, I plugged back in yesterday morning.

12 hours later it hasn't gone past 70% charge. When I pressed the button on the battery itself for LED status, it showed 4/4 light, none flashing as "full". I unplugged it and checked the battery icon, it showed estimated less than 30 minutes. I've already reseated battery a couple times. I can't check or clean contact as it's too well protected with multiple plastic tabs to prevent accidental shorting or bending metal tabs.

The battery's warranty is only 1 year from date of manufacture, which is kinda dumb because if it sits for oh about 6 months before a customer gets it, customer only gets 6 months left. Still, 18 months, about 10,000 miles, and over 100 full charge/discharge cycle sucks. I have an older laptop that's 4 years old and still gets over 5 hours (originally 9) and the ancient laptop battery I had for my '93 Apple laptop was good for almost 10 years (3 hours new to under 20 minutes at the end) before it was retired and dumped at recycling center.

Is the battery dying? Suggest a reputable place for new battery? I tried Google and was looking at inconsistent information. One place claimed to offer 12-cell 14,400mAH for about $20 (how the heck to read that in WH or watts-hour?). The genuine HP brand starts at about $150 for 9 cells 100-WH, and another site has generic 58W-H 6 cell battery for $80. WH or mAH and price seems to vary widely.

I suspect some of those generic batteries are either very cheaply made or had artificially inflated WH or mAH number. eBay is much worse so I wont touch them.

HP tool shows the battery is older than I thought, about 9 months old when I got it. It also shows cell 4 is dead.
