IBM helped Germany build an early version of this supercomputer. The SuperMUC Petascale System uses Suse Linux Enterprise Server (SLES).

But 3D semiconductors are moving ahead, recently Toshiba announced building a fabrication plant to be completed in a year and will manufacture 3D Hybrid Memory Cubes, said to be about 15 times faster than what we have now:
