PS2 Fuse Blown. Help!!!

Thread Starter
After installing a mod-chip, the PS2 unit wouldn't boot at all. The red light does not light up when power is connected. After finding this (http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/fus...022_fuses.jpg), I ran a few tests with a multimeter to see where the problem might be. It turned out that the "PS1 3.3V Regulator (12V Input)" fuse is blown. Question is where can I find a 3.3V Regulator with 12V Input? I had a spare GH-022 motherboard but when I tried to desolder it, it was blown again. It seems like the fuse is really sensitive to heat.

Searching google, radioshack.com, and ebay.com, ebay was the best bet in finding a replacement. However, according to the diagram, the regulator is supposed to have an input of 12v, output of 3.3v, and a current of 0.4A or 400mA. I only see 100mA, 800mA, or 1A. How dangerous is it to use a different output current?

tsk tsk, if your gonna install a mod chip, do it right, and i think its against the ToS speaking of them? (though i may be wrong) your gonna have to use another PS fuse, try getting a used one, or messed up one on ebay
