No, that won't work. Onboard HDMI output is from the onboard GPU.

I can only say

On my Z77X-UD4H I can use both the 7950 and onboard gpu so long as I select "always" to enable the onboard gpu

I did this until I got my HDMI to DVI cable

Yes... but that's not going to pass your 7950's power out through the motherboard's HDMI.

yeah, outputs are tied to their specific gpus. You can't pipe the signal through a different gpu, they just aren't made to work like that.

The closest I could see you getting is hybrid crossfirex, but that requires rather low-end gpus usually and won't work in all cases.

I could use an HDMI male to female and just make another output.

Never implied it would. But it did allow secondary output for web pages and info while gaming on my primary

Just used it a couple days

does the on on baord automatically go inactive once an addon gpu is added? if not it could work for movies and non high end gaming.

Generally that's going to depend on the motherboard. Some can stay active, some can't. If I'm not mistaken, newer chipsets don't have any issues with the onboard GPU staying active. The older ones definitely will turn off automatically with a GPU present.
