Laptop USB 3.0 help

Thread Starter
First off, I'll start by saying I'm not sure where this post should be posted so I assumed it should go here as it is an Intel laptop this thread is about. The issue I am having is that I've just formatted my laptop Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Service Pack 1 (Dell XPS l501x laptop) fresh, and I've installed the drivers needed, along with the Renesas USB3.0 Host Controller, which is my USB driver and which was also working prior to the format. But now I have installed the driver and such restarted the laptop and such, the laptop is still not recognising my USB devices when plugged into the USB slots, I've tried both slots also. When I plug them in it says that it fails to find the USB Controller Driver. I've tried running the Windows Fix It program and that did nothing for me either.

This one slight problem is really annoying as it was so straight forward prior the format to get the USB ports working, I just think "why are you being fussy now?! It's the same damn driver just 64 bit!" I was running 32 bit prior to the format.

Help will be greatly appreciated as this is such a small thing, yet proving pretty big.

Thanks in advance.

This right here would be my only suggestion at this point..

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/Product/xps-15?driverId=R309739&osCode=W764&fileId=2731118658&languageCode=EN

BIOS update, make sure that's the laptop you have though.

From the research iv done about your problem it seems a very very common issue on your laptop. I also didnt see a fix posted yet anywhere..

You could try your luck with google.. I just looked up Dell XPS l501x usb ports not working
