GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP7 or ASUS Maximus V EXTREME

Thread Starter
hey guys.

i've got a 3770k that i delidded a couple months back mounted up to my EVGA Z77 Stinger, and I though i've got it about 90% stable on a 5ghz overclock on the bare die, I believe I could get a more solid overclock with a better motherboard.

whenever I build a rig up, it has to have full watercooling. seeing as both of these boards have full cover waterblocks available, they're my two choices.

ASUS:

GIGABYTE:

what i'm wondering about is if anyone has had experience with both boards and which they like better.
i'd prefer the ASUS, because i'm familiar with the company and it'd be nice keeping a red and black theme from my AMD build, but the GIGABYTE has a pretty good deal going right now on Newegg.

any help would be appreciated. reviews on newegg are nice but i'd rather get a word from fellow OCNers.

thanks!

Between those two boards I would go with the ASUS Maximus V EXTREME. It is quite possible that you didn't win the silicon lottery and your CPU may just not be able to reach 5GHz. I guess you won't know unless you try though.

the gigabyte board is pretty damn amazing but if your not using ln2 and don't care for the tools that either comes with i would just pick the cheaper but do keep in mind that the vrm on the gigabyte is ridonk compared to like anything else
