I'll be back at my place Monday, i might swing by Best Buy on my way home to be sure. Especially since the Powercolor 290x's are out of stock on NE right now so don't know how long the RMA will take. Powercolor is the only 290x that i know for sure doesn't void your warranty for putting a block on it. There's a few 290x's that have tamper-proof stickers, don't remember which ones though.
In this forum I read on several threads that XFX USA honors the warranty if you email them before changing the cooler. They ask to keep the original cooler if you need to RMA it.
The LSI card your are talking about is a Raid controller?

you could use this as your boot drive instead of messing about with 20th century raid controllers. 830mbps read 810mbps write speed. Makes normal SSD's look like HDD's

@welshy46Yeah it is fast but no faster than a raid card with a couple of SSD's in raid 0 and actually that is all this is, so it is using 20th century raid controllers. And with the RaidR you can not expand and add more drives to increase storage and performance.

Not to mention there are better quality pci-e cards.

Hey guys, just got home. I stopped at BestBuy and grabbed an XFX R5 230 to test with. I just walked in the door so haven't even opened the box yet =)

@aaroc yeah i was talking about a Raid card. x79 only has 2 good 6Gbps ports in it so a Raid card can come in real handy.

@welshy46 I like the look of the Raidr cards too. But all they are is basically a Ramdisk. They're most useful for boards that don't have a Ramdisk option. Also a Raid Card will give me more than one extra HD.

:D

I was hoping to get a GT 210 or 59** for 20-30 bux but the cheapest they had in store was GT610 for 50 bux, and the r5 230 was 60 bux. I went with the 230 for the extra gig of ram (2GB) in case i keep it for an HTPC or something
