Thanx brotha.

I got alot of stuff done the past cpl days that i've been procrastinating for a while :p

Now that i see the potential of huge window in the front, it has bad ideas floating around my mind about redoing half my setup again. No worries tho, cuz i don't think i can afford to do that for a 3rd time with this build.

I very much like the idea though of having my windows in the top and front, and my rads on both sides. It would be hard for me to part with the that shroud/e-loop setup tho....

Wow, i didn't even realize you posted that til just now when i was looking at my pics again. You musta posted that while i was putting together the long update post after it.

And yeah, learning to mod & learning to take decent pics doesn't mix well with progress updates.

Probly every hour i spend actually measuring or cutting, i spend 3 hours with my camera and Lightroom trying to get a few money shots.

I'm assuming it'll get easier tho. That's why i asked for feedback before about if i'm over-photoshopping my pics. I know some of em come out with different color temps cuz i'm really just trying to make the spots that i'm trying to show look as clear as possible

I actually took off all the masking tape last night, cleaned it up (that masking tape was on wayy too long. turned into goo), and filed down that window i cut out.

Also, I'm installing 2 QDC's on the back of my rig for flushing purposes. For now i have no plans any external rads, but DON'T MAKE ME DO IT!!! :D:D:D

This is what it looks like right now after took off the masking tape, cleaned off all the goo it left on my XB, and filed down the edges of the hole

I'm kind of in a pickle right now cuz looking at the chassis like that, I can't help thinking how nice of a space that would be for a window or a monitor, or a backlit lcd with the backpanel removed so it can function as both...

The plan I've been going with was to have my windows at the top and the CPU/Socket side door panel.

And 360 up front, 360 along the bottom, 240 on the GPU side door panel, & 120 on the rear mount

If I turned that front space into a window, monitor, or lcd window I could......

a. Lose 1.120 rad space and put 240's on both sides of the mobo, leaving the front & top as windows (I'd have a 360, 120, & 2 240's)

b. Try to create a skirt around the top of the chassis and mount 2 360's up top leaving the front and both side door panel for my windows. (I'd have 3 360's and a 120)

You can see in these next pics that there's enough room for 2 360's on the top and still have my 120 UT60 on the rear mount

If I did that, I'd use 2 EX360's on top and my XT45 360 along the bottom bay

Nice idea! Havent seen that done before!
But sacrificing your top window? If you ask me, the top window is by fare the coolest one! and it lets you access your system without having to uninstall anything.
If you are going for front window, I would keep the top free and use whatever space you can on the sides
Also, you would completely destroy XB'S awesome Front-->Back flow.

Or though, this idea got me thinking... moving my current 360 to the basement and rest still as external, would allow me to have front window, good cooling when at LAN and awesome cooling when im at home smile.gif Plus a kickass front window to go with 2xside windows and full top window:P

*Edit*
NO!! Dont make me start modding again! Im happy with my "final result".. Im not addicted to this! or am I?¿?

LOL, I've already destroyed that airflow. I have 2 360's, a 240, and a 120. I already messed up the front => back airflow.

The way I have it now, I'm gonna have a 360 intaking in the bottom. 360 intaking in the front, 120 intaking in rear, and 240 exhausting out the side.

I just never even considered a front window til I cut the mount out for a 360. It would open a lot of modding possibilities which is as bad as it is good. I was messin around with different ideas tonight already

I could actually mount 2 EX360's inside in the top and have the fans external inside the skirt. That would leave enough room for like a 400mm res in between the rads too if I wanted.

I'd have to be real creative to make it work, and I don't even know if it would be an improvement or a mistake =\

The top windows definitely cool (especially since I've already made one). But a window on the front & both the sides would be cool too I think. I really like the monitor idea tho. I can fit like 14-15" 16:9 monitor above the bays. I love those transparent LED windows that are completely see through when you don't backlight em.

The biggest sacrifice to me would be the way the front panel looks with the Koolance Shroud & Phobya E-Loops with the LED's I installed. Especially when I paint everything. The cooling/rad space situation would really be the same no matter what. Pretty much every way I do it, i'll probly end up with 3 x 360's worth of rad space. So it's all aesthetic.

I don't know, I'm just kinda thinking out loud and seeing what other people think. So anybody that thinks its a good or bad idea, please say so

Anyway, it's 10am again and I've been up all night toying with ideas. Time for sleep :kookoo:

There's a chance that the only reason I think this is even a remotely good idea is because I've been thinking about how I can get a monitor modded into my XB without sacrificing anything major since the day I bought it. I'll probly just stick with my current setup, but I would love to hear feedback from as many people as possible to see if its just me....

Yeah, it definitely feels like an addiction to me. I don't think it's possible for any type of modder to feel content with a build for more than a few months. That itch is gonna come back sooner or later.

in my experience, the masking tape is for guidance only.
