It helps you not scratch your case. You'll still create burrs when dremelling metal. That's what files are for =)

Also, like SOG said, it's great for guidance, nice to just take a sharpie or a pen & trace out your cut

I am seeing what you mean about the possiblity of a window or LCD screen up front... that could be cool. But my two cents.... I really like how you have the front RAD with the shrowd, but that is just my opinion. I totally understand the mod is never finished, even when it is in progress. Haha. But like I said, I, personally, really like what you are doing with the front.
Also, like it was stated earlier, the top window will look clean and make it much easier to access all your parts when you need to work on it.

I just used painters tape to mask off my window on my side panel when I was using the Dremel to cut it out. It does not leave a residue unless you leave it on for a long time and even then the residue is hardly anything. I just used the blue scotch painters tape and it worked like a charm for drawing on guide lines and keeping me from scratching the eff outta my side panel.

The Gold Member pic had me rolling. Haha.

Yeah i agree with everything you said in that first paragraph. It would be hard for me not to use the front shroud cuz i like it so much. Its just when i looked at the pics with the front mount cut out it had me thinking a little bit. Plus, i thought about some kind of 5-6" LCD screen when i first started planning my build. Right now i'm just planning on moving forward with it how i've been planning though, with the front 360/shroud & top window.

I used to always use the blue tape too. I read in a cpl places (can't remember where or when) that the pro-grade tape's better for cutting, that's why i started using it. I had that tape on the front like that for a few months though. So it's actually gone through weather changes and everything. I'm pretty sure that's why it left all the goo behind :p

Yeah, i'm worried if i cut too many more chunks outta my chassis, they might kick me outta the XB Club :D

I'd love to have an LCD on it but i just don't think there's enough room in this little guy for everything i want. I wanted one just for the "portability" aspect. Not to game on or anything, but if i wanted to be able to go online or watch aquasuite or things like that without taking a full monitor with me. But i think it's better to not worry about that right now. I gotta finish with getting all my cooling installed, and maybe later when i'm working on aesthetics i'll see if there's a place for it. Probly won't be =\

I spent the last few days (except yesterday) working on a way to be able control some rgb strips from my aquaero. I found the rgb amp that jeaks sells from the ac forums, but 35 euros is a bit more than i wanna spend on it, so i've been messing around in Eagle trying to make my own. I think i got it figured out, just gotta order the mosfets. It probly won't be very pretty, so it won't be anything i'll have on display. If i decide i want people to see it, i'll probly order his version with the black pcb like Seanimus has in his build

So i got my 240 mounting figured out. It's not mounted yet, but i cut the XSPC mounts that i have so the legs were short enough to fit and figured out how i'm gonna mount it

Like i said before, i got the idea to use those mounts for my mounting my 240 on the side of my mobo tray from @elcono's "Project Ramfit" build log. Just wanna give credit where it's due...

Mine's gonna be a little different cuz he had to sacrifice the handle from one of his side panels. I shaved a little off the handle and a little off the mobo support beam so i could have both

When i cut my mobo support beam, i hadn't thought it through enough yet and i cut it on the CPU side. Luckily the 2 mobo support beams are identical, so i just gotta switch em around. I'm not gonna use any of the white or red rivets i got from FCPU til after i paint it, but i have a bunch i got from Home Depot that i can use for the time being just so i can get it mounted.

This is what i'm referring to for any1 that didn't see the pics i posted a while ago

And i'm gonna combine the XSPC mounts with the EK UNI mounts i have so i can mount the rad securely against front and rear of the chassis.

I'm supposed to head up to my sisters tomorrow for a few hours, but maybe when i get back i'll have time to switch the mobo supports around so i can get the 240 mounted =)

EDIT: I also always paint the fins redface.gif. I'm aware there is probably a couple of watt reduction in heat dissipation but they look better tongue.gif.

Yeah, i've had my datavac since like octoberish. It's one of the most convenient things i own. I love it!!!

When i put gaskets on my rads and i know i'm gonna be leaving em out for a while i just flip the middle piece around so the cushions against the fins instead of throwin it away :p

I'm gonna either paint the housings or put white or red carbon fiber on em. Not gonna bother painting the fins tho cuz none will be visible anyway =)

I've been kinda quiet lately cuz since i got alot of my radspace figured out, i've been trying to brainstorm different ideas as far as aesthetics go. I still got alot of planning to do in that department. I really just need to order a bunch of acrylic panels and start playing with different ideas. I swapped around my mobo support rails but since i plan on having the 240 and its fans shrouded in acrylic i didn't get it mounted yet. I also test-fitted my RIVE BE in my chassis just to see how it looks.

I also cut some grommet holes in the front for the 360 and cut a little more space out for airflow. I just used a 7/8" holesaw for the grommets and my dremel with a carbide cutting bit to round out the front fan space. Then i just filed everything down a bit

I also got tired of waiting for my CPU & Ram to be able to play with my Aquaero so i modded this little cable so i could hook it up to my laptop and mess around in aquasuite. I just sacrificed an old phone charger and crimped some male dupont pins on it.

I spent pretty much the entire day today reading through all the build logs for the bit-tech 2013 mod of the year. The insane creativity and workmanship made me feel like i'm currently building a tiny log cabin out of Popsicle sticks =\

Anyway i hope everybody's been having happy holidays!!
