But yeah, i grew up with the original NES. When i was growing up, it was either Nintendo or Sega that separated the gamers. I never bought into the "Coolness-Factor" of the Sega Consoles. Although i did own a Dreamcast. N64 was my high school years i think. Then Gamecube closer to the end of High School or a little later. That's when me and my friends could sit around "Eating Sandwiches" ( <====How I Met Your Mother reference) and playing Smash Melee all day tongue.gif

I'm still a FanBoy for the Nintendo Originals tho. Probly the only thing some1 could call me a fanboy about biggrin.gif

Also.....
Just installed my CPU, GPU, & Ram. Still gotta setup my temporary loop b4 i can turn her on, but it should be today wheee.gif

Ermmmm i mean turn HIM on. Sorry TRiCLOPS =\

Edit: ZX Spectrum??? I musta missed that one. Does that thing play games off of a cassette tape?

I have three NES biggrin.gif I use two of them to raise my monitors to eye level tongue.gif

The Spectrum is fun until you get that damn "error loading tape - please try again"

Wind back and repeat.

So it really does play games off of a cassette? Is that Pre-1st-Gen? Like Commodor 64, Atari, etc?

I had a old Radio Shack Color Computer that used a tape drive like that to load games, programs and everything.. used basic and I could program it well enough I actually taught my basic and advanced computer class in middle school and high school... LOL if you were rich you had a 5 1/4 in floppy drive. we had the top of the line one it had 16k of memory!!!!

Lolllll, damn i wish i was interested in the programming aspect of things at that age

My first computer was running Win95 i think. Where you had to type like "windows" or "win.com" in DOS to start the OS. Or if you typed "time" before you started windows, it would sync up the clock over the internet :D

Good old days. Computers and the internet were like magical & mystical to me back then. So many secrets to discover LOLLLLLL

I think it was the generation before NES.

NES was '85 right? I'm sure Spectrum +2 was around '81 ish.

It would read the data from the cassette tape and right it to the memory chip so that once it successfully loaded the game you could play until you shut down the machine.

I have a total of 26 tapes for that thing and the original "light gun" like what you could get on the NES

Obviously no CRT display so can't use it.

I was always more interested in computers than gaming consoles, your first computer was not running win 95. I can not remember the name of it but win 95 loaded to windows desk top.

my first computer did not even have dos it was still a few years away!!!

my first CPU in a home built computer was 8088... then 286, 386, 486,... I can remember when generic pc's were colled IBM clones. you either had apple or a IBM clone. how companies had to reverse engineer the bios. oh the good old bad days.

you have to realize the first computer I told about the CC had 16k and you loaded everything into memory from a cassette tape... then you could play. our RPG games was just text you could read and then you gave command like W to go west, all like this. spent hours doing this... can remember when the most fun and advance computer was the apple and we would spend hours on it with a drawing program... and your first computer had dos.... need to study some history!!!!biggrin.gif

Yeah, I remember calling PC's IBM's. Never had an old apple. I used to be like that with MS Paint tho. Just messing around with all the pretty colors LOL

I don't remember which windows it was then. Maybe the one b4 95.

I'm pretty sure NES was 85

Damn W, you got a pretty decent collection of retro gaming/computer stuff for some1 who's 18 :p

I was still a little kid back when i'm talking about, so didn't know much about hardware. Like elementary school/junior high. I just had my family's computer and it wasn't worth knowing about hardware differences since i was still a cpl years away from getting an allowance :p

I was more having fun phishing on aol :o
