Here's a pic of the correct position of the O-ring washer, if you are taking the fittings on and off during the build for measuring and fitment, then i would suggest renewing the O- rings before final fitment, or if you need to take them on and off. then don't tighten them down each time or this will ruin the O - rings and cause a leak.

This is an E-Adapter

It's for converting one thread type to another. I need it because of stripped threads in my rad. I have 2 bags full of BP o-rings. Do you see the o-ring placement? It's not at the top of the threads. It's above it. That's why i'm using alot of thread tape and extra o-rings. I originally put the extra o-ring because i wanted it to be at the top of the threaded area, but i don't have a small enough o-ring to fit there.

I haven't even setup my loop one single time yet. So i definitely haven't been switching around my loop, because as of yet i haven't had one =)

I've flushed that Apogee Drive once a few months ago. Aside from that, i haven't used ANYTHING. Everything has been placed around my rig for measurment, but not loop setup.

I just messed up the threads of one port because i thought something was G1/4 BSPP and it wasn't

And i appreciate the help, i just haven't switched stuff around. Pretty much all my equipment is unused as of yet. This is the first time water's been run through that radiator (well last night really).

I wonder if i should try just using Silicon Sealant around the adapter. I mean the ports threads are stripped, so it's not like removing it is really an option anyway. Anybody know anybody that's done this before?

The E-Adapter looks like it's meant to convert G1/4 to G1/4 BSPP by the way the top of the threads look like they're meant for a recessed port. I wonder if i can tap a stripped G1/4 BSPP port to regular G1/4

Right now i'm only setting up a temporary loop to get my CPU functional. That rad will be mounted on the outside front of the chassis and the ports will be facing out in case it leaks.

When you say washer, are you talking about the o-rings? If you look at that pic of how it comes in the package, neither of those function as actual o-rings. The actual o-ring is under both of them and it only tightens to the original o-ring. The extra 2 are to fill in the gap. Here maybe these pics will explain better. I just took these and so far no leaks. You can see that it doesn't tighten to either of those o-rings. I just have em there for extra protection because of stripped threads. I don't know of any rads with removable ports. I'm thinking of buying a g3/8 tap and trying to retap it though
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

What is the the red fitting sealing to. if you have several o-rings like I see stacked as spacers then this will leak in time. if you need a space use a flat washer or something like this. like I said before think about it metal-rubber-rubber-metal you will never compress the rubber o-rings because between them will always be a week point.

look at the picture of the adapter you are using now I don't have it in hand but it looks like the red arrow is pointing to a stop.

You will need a o-ring or gasket between this and the rad if I am right and anything above is just for looks and doing nothing to seal...

and instead of tape use a little thread sealant paste from a tube... go to home depot and tell them you want some thread sealant in a tube. something like this walmart will also have some if you have to get it tonight!!!

does not have to be exactly what I showed you this was from a quick google search. did not look at anything on it! some of the sealants once it get it in and let it set they are real hard to remove but why should you ever remove this again??

now before someone tells you this will clog you system up we use this same thing on high pressure fittings that supply fluid to some things that have jets that are 1/16" and smaller.. never have them clog up.

Yeah, what you just pointed out with the picture is what i'm referring to. It's meant to convert G1/4 to G1/4 BSPP. The way that stop is there looks like it's meant for a recessed port. That's why i used the extra o-rings to begin with, but it's not working because it's still leaking. So you're right in everything you're saying.

When i originally put the extra o-rings on there, it was because i wanted one in between that little stop. But normal BP o-rings are too big, as you can see from my pics. A washer sounds like a good idea.

I have some DAP All-Purpose Silicone Sealant Adhesive. It's 100% Silicone. Do you think this would work for the sealant paste you were talking about?

no do not use this because if it is not 100% cured you will end up with micro strings a mile long in your loop! I have seen people do this on equipment here and you end up with what looks like spider webs or strings

those are the people I wish we could make walk the plank!!!

Thanx, definitely won't be using that then LOL

It's not really a hurry because i have other rads i can use for my temp loop. I just wanted to see if that XT45 was gonna leak with the E-Adapter, and it's leaking. So i'll use my EX360 for now and get some of that Permatex for sure. Thank you for the link. :thumb:

Yeah, i don't care if i can never remove it. The threads are stripped. So removing the adapters not an option. I don't care if it cements itself as long as it fixes the problem :thumb:
