What are some commonly used benchmarks?

To test over clock of your gpu and cpu? I never have over clocked before so im wondering what i need. I hae cpuz and gpuz and evga precision but im not sure what i need like benchmark to test if its cool and stabe.

GPU.. take your pick. 3DMark, Heaven etc. For CPU.. Cinebench, XTU bench, PCMark etc.

That's just benching though.. not stability. They won't guarantee you're game stable.

CPU stability: Prime95, Linx, IntelBurnTest.
GPU stability. 3dmark11 basic for starters and then games maxed out.

How do i do that then.

As I wrote, just run 3dmark11 basic tests only. If you're not getting any artifacts or crashes, test it further in games.

As above.. if you're after gaming stability for GPU, then all you do is game. 3DMark and 3DMark11 and probably Heaven all allow you to OC beyond what is, say BF3/BF4 stable. CPU is another story, I personally don't subscribe to Prime or IBT or anything like that.. x264 bench appears to be the new favourite, nice and fast and more than likely will show you game stable clocks.
