Advice needed for upgrade

Hey guys!

I have a mate who is looking to upgrade from his x58 i7 950 build to an i7 4770k. Just wanting to run the parts past here on ocn before going ahead. He is not into overclocking however i will help him get a minor overclock with his 212 evo because it would be rude not to OC a 4770k.

He will be running a 7970 at this stage but the option for a potential second card is a must. Will also be using a pci-e wifi card.

Will be buying from computerlounge.co.nz. So far these are the parts we are looking at.

http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?partid=19892
http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?partid=19391
http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?partid=15720

Can stretch the budget a bit if deemed necessary but considering only minor overclocking is going to be done the mobo shouldn't need to be too fancy. Rig is mainly for gaming.

Let me know what you guys think thumb.gif

Thanks.

I'm not very familiar with intel, my rig is my first intel build, did AMD before. Everything seems fine to me and should be a decent upgrade, but people may disagree with me on this. From what I can see the mobo gets decent ratings so you should be fine there. The mushkins are fairly popular and get good reviews so you should be good on that front too.

Budget is whatever it takes to make the most out of a 4770k and 212 evo. I don't see the point in going for something extreme when i would say any overclock we do will likely be limited by temperature than the processor itself.

I would say good pick of items, but the price is high IMO

Maybe try and see if a Ozy retailer will post to you, our price is about $300 less typer.gif

PCCG and Mwave are both highly recommended.

Yeah things get quite expensive by the time they reach New Zealand but for warranty sakes it is less hassle to buy here, if anything were to go wrong. Plus computer lounge has given me great service in the past and been very helpful with requests and resolving any issues I've had.

I will check out those sites though because sometimes i do need to branch out for certain items.

Thanks for the time and feedback everyone. I appreciate the reassurance. biggrin.gif

I totally understand where you are coming from. thumb.gif

I wonder if your KiWi's are covered by the new Consumer Laws us Aussies copied from ya. thinking.gif

If so, it would mean that who ever sells the product to you, has to warrant the product for the expected life of it.
