HELP PLS - Installed windows 8.1 - Now Nvidia control panel won't open

Thread Starter
I installed windows 8.1 yesterday. New and clean install, full version. Everything was easy and went fine, until i discovered that i can't open the Nvidia control panel anymore ! When i try to open it, nothing happens at all...

I tried the 327.23 drivers and the 331.58 drivers. Same problem with both.

I als need to mention that last week i upgraded my PC. I bought a ASUS X79-Delxue with an i7 4930k, and a H80i corsair colling system. (I used to have an i7 3770k with an ASUS P8Z77-WS).
I have my GTX 780 since they came out. But i don't think the problem is hardware related. Didn't have the nivida control panel problem until i installed windows 8.1

But listen to this cause it's VERY strange and it's driving me crazy. Everytime that i restart the PC, the Nvidia control panel wont open. If i shut down the PC and start it, same problem the Nvidia control panel wont open. But if i shut down the PC, close the power supply, then start the power supply and start the PC, now the Nvidia control panel works. ? Then i restart the PC again, Nvidia control panel doesnt work. But eveytime i close the powersupply, the control panel works. O_O

Also, right after installing windows 8.1, the first thing i did was to install the Nvidia drivers. I could open the control panel, but i couldnt set up SLI and save the changes, because it said that there was something running, named ''wwahost.exe'', and i needed to close it. I ended up just deleating/diseabling it in the task manager. After a search on google, i found that this file is related to windows 8.1 apps or store. Anyway, i don't think its the cause of the problem, but i wanted to mention it.

Does anyone have a clue why my nvidia control panel is acting weird like that ? Help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know what to do, when i get back home tonight i'll try to reinstall 8.1 again.

Hi smile.gif

Are you choosing restart? Because if you just shut down and then start the PC, Windows 8 doesn't count that as an event!

So make sure you do a "restart" smile.gif

I just formatted and reinstalled windows 8.1 again. I only installed windows and Nvidia drivers 331.58. The same problem still happens. I could open the Nvidia control once and set up my SLI profile and setting, but as soon as I restarted my PC, NVidia control panel stopped working and now it wont open.

I can't belive this.

I'm having this problem too. Nothing I do will fix it.. I was about to reinstall the OS but luckily I saw that you already did that and it didn't work.. It all worked fine with windows 8 but after the update its now broken and I cant turn on my other two monitors now or change any settings because of this.. I cant believe we spend our own money to buy pc gear and we rely on other people to make it work.. Seems a bit strange to me..
