G500s and Fingertip grip

Simple, I really like the G500s shape and functionality. Right now, I have a DA 3.5G since Feb 2011. I really love it at first but I start to hate the glossy side. When I start to get sweety hand (because my room temperature reach above 28*C....), it start to slip away when I lift it.

I'm not fix on the sensibility for my mouse. Right now I'm at 1800dpi but I just raise it a bit and it still feel fine. I'm not an intense gamer you now tongue.gif

The G500s price is about what I want to pay for a mouse.

I like to use the 2 side button on my DA but it lack the DPI switch OR profil switch.

I play many gamers, from MMO to Minecraft by some FPS, nothing near competition... for real, I'm really noob in FPS redface.gif

I like when my mouse glide freely on my mouse pad. I'm thinking about changing my Goliathus Ohm for a hard pad or whatever pad that allow me to have less restriction.

I think I cover everything that was required for a proper "Mice Thread".

If any other question, feel free to ask thumb.gif

There's the Deathadder Black and 2013 Edition which are good for sweaty hands but do lack DPI adjustment unless you set them in software. The Deathadder 2013 will retain its settings after you exit/uninstall the driver.

I liked my G500 when I used it for gaming and it did really well on my RAZR eXactMat, SS 5L and Scarab. It runs nicely on my Goliathus Speed if the feet aren't worn out and the cable isn't kinked (which is prone to doing). The sides are grippy even if you sweat and the buttons are the usual Logitech quality. Some will tell you that the G500 will be unusable due to its inherent positive acceleration but it cones down to what you can live with. I personally still do very well in CS with mine and no noticeable negative accel on cloth pads.

If you want finger-tipping you could opt for the Roccat Savu and it has an easy shift button for DPI and other stuff (can be changed in software but has onboard memory to save it)

I have try a Roccat Savu once to install windows and other stuff on my friend new build (I suggest it the Savu and he take it) but I didn't like the feeling of the side... Too much texture I guess.

Also, for the acceleration on the G500s, I don't believe I will feel it since I'm not even near good at CS:GO and any other fast game. I like them but I just don't play enough to become a champ, stay noob for ever XD.

These day, the game I play the most is Minecraft because I made a server with my same friend that own the Savu old computer with my external HDD because it had not HDD and it is faster than my USB thumb drive.... Still enough for us.

Anyway, I really just want to know if the sensor is good, like, it will not be a hard pain. Before my DA 3.5G, I had a Generic Logitech mouse at 400DPI on a CRT hook to a old sampron 2500+ with no GPU. So, even if I'm now good to build pc, I'm still have hard time with in put device since I don't have any experience with it.

For the shape, I don't really enjoy the DA shape. My thums end on the first side button, don't reach the second one. I can reach it if I had to but it change my mouse grip. So, I want to know if it is doable to fingertip the g500s or that mouse is REALLY not made for that grip.

Thanks for your reply,

Lee17

I've had the Deathadders (all except the black) and Logitech MX-500/ 518, G5, G500 and briefly G400. The sensor on the G500 is quite good for laser mouse but the mouse can be a little heavy compared to the Deathadder. The G500 also has a similar texture on the sides like the Savu though a bit more rubbery. The G500 is also sloped a little more gently and is really meant for palm gripping but I do find myself clawing or fingertipping it from time to time. It has served me well in a few local tournaments until the cable began to kink up which made rolling up and rolling it out a pain.

Did you check out the G400? It has DPI buttons, lighter weight and a similar, but smaller, shell which has two thumb buttons and not three found on the G500. It does lack the side scrolling feature of the G500 so I'm not sure if you need it or not.

Another mouse I would suggest is the CM Storm Spawn. It's made for fingertip grip and has a nicer (IMO) ring finger rest than the logitech mice. The only problem is that it's kind of old and may not be available in local markets (it is available on Amazon if they ship to Canada).

Both G400 and Spawn should be in the $30 - 40 range during sales, though the G400's price is still listed at $50 - 60 retail. The G500 is end of life and willl be harder to find. The G500s will be taking its place but is considered a step back because of the lag experienced with the new sensor (unless there's a firmware that fixes it).

So the G500s have a problem with the sensor... that not good frown.gif

The G500 is 10$ more expensive... and I don't like the shape of the Spawn... I believe I better with a palm mouse that can be use with fingertip... I couln'd find any G400 under 70$.

What kind of lag the G500s have? I think it isn't the first time I read that but I didn't remember what kind of lag it is?

But, thanks for the input... trying to make my mind on a choice but damn, I like the look and the functionality of the G500s redface.gif

Ninja'd : It seem that the firmware 84.9 fix the input issue (saw a youtube video in 2 sec) and confirm by googling). Someone here agree?

Is Amazon available in Canada? Or how about NCIX? The G400s shouldn't be that much even in Canada.

Maybe you could find a used G500? Just avoid any if you see the rubber cable sticking out of the cloth weave. If you have a store nearby that sells the G500s and has a good price w/ return policy then you should try it out.

G400s: 57.99$CAD
G500s: 69.99$CAD
G500 : 79.99$CAD

G400 on Amazon : 75.66$CAD

I don't think I will find any store with decent return policy.... look where I am... : 48.233821,-79.022112
We have a Staples (re-brand in French as "Bureau en Gros") but I don't know their return policy.
