Help deciding to SLi 670's or not.

Thread Starter
Hey all my current rig is the one in my sig. My real question is since it seems EVGA has stopped making the FTW cards but now have the LE editions, would it be possible for me to use one of the standard 670 pcb ones in SLi? Also would there be any issues with my waterblocks if I go this route since the FTW used the 680pcb and a standard 670 would be shorter? Also would you all recommend any other GPU options. I game mainly at 1080p on one monitor but have thought about trying surround if I can secure a 3rd 1080p monitor for a cheap price. I'm still hoping the 290x release will force nVidia to lower their prices. I am also considering upgrading my CPU, mobo, and ram but feel a gpu would give me the best improvements atm. Any help is greatly appreciated.

IDK about the LE version, but the FTW is pretty much a 680 with less shaders, which is the reason it sold like hotcakes. the marketplace should have some, have you checked?

also what do you do which would benefit from a second 670 but not a newer gen processor?
maybe upgrade to a i7-965 or higher to get more performance on the cheap side and then do a full replace?

I dont think upgrading to a i7-965 will be a smart move because those chips dont really come down in price at all where ever you do find them. Getting a better cooler or getting the L5639 would be the best option as far as the CPU upgrade goes. 80$ Hexa-Core CPU. Clock it to 4.0-4.2Ghz and sit happy

im in the same boat. im upgrading from a 2500k to a 4770k and a maximus formula. the question im having is should sli my 670s, pick up a 780ti, or wait for the 800 series. im gaming @1080p on a 144hz monitor at the moment.

im leaning toward sli 670s, as they can be found pretty cheap on ebay.
